How to…

Welcome to the Maxava world of mobile monitoring. It is a very easy process to get up and running. First download the user guide and have a read. The install and running of the monitor software is very straight forward and intuitive, however it is always a good idea to give the manual the once over!

You can download the maxView Lite manual here.

The software requires you to have Adobe Air installed on your desktop to run the .air package file. This will install the desktop Widget onto your PC or Laptop and from there the Widget will prompt you to upload and install the maxView code onto your IBM i. In order for maxView to run on your IBM i you must have the HTTP DG1 licensed product installed and the QHTTPSVR subsystem active. The browser you use on your desktop needs flash installed and the browser running on your smartphone or tablet needs to be HTML5 compliant.

The Widget will prompt you automatically to upload the software onto your IBM i when it has finished installing. The system add process will ask you to enter your system details, name, IP address, ports to use, library to install into, as well as a license key. This key is based on your system serial number and you can obtain this from the My Products page http://maxviewlite.com/my-products/ on this website once you have downloaded the software. So simply add the license key and your email address that you used to register for the site, the name of the library you have created on the system to install the code into and the other system details and hit the Add button. This will then prompt you to accept our EULA and you will then need to enter a valid IBM i user profile and password. The code will upload to your system via FTP and self-install and start the Lite servers.

Once you have added your required systems simply click on the system in the Widget (there will be a blue tick if there are no alerts or a red cross if there are issues) and then click on the CPU dial and this will launch your default browser on your PC and take you to the Lite server pages. You can also navigate directly to the pages on your PC or smartphone or tablet by accessing the site address directly. So for example. If your system IP address is 192.168.0.98 and you installed the software to use the default port of 8024, you would navigate to the following address – 192.168.0.98:8024. The device you are using should auto detect and show the correct version. If you require secure HTTPS connectivity instructions are provided in how to set up a certificate store.

To stop and start your Lite servers before and after IPL’s or restricted system conditions, you use the MXVWSTR (maxView Start) command or the MXVWEND(maxView End) command, followed by the library you installed the software into. So if you installed the software into a library called MXMNLITE, to start the servers you would use the following command, MXVWSTR MAXLIB(MXMNLITE). The manual will give you more details on the individual functions and how to use them, however it is all very simple and straight forward to use.

The software is supplied as is, however of course if you have any questions, comments or recommendations please feel free to email us at support@maxava.com. Please ensure you provide your full name, company and contact details in the email when you send it through to us and we will get back to you.

We hope the software will make your system management that little bit easier. To download navigate to the http://maxviewlite.com/my-products/ page.
